In Year 1 and Year 2 we build on the firm foundations set in Early Years with an emphasis on the girls being active participants in their learning. We embed the key skills of reading, writing and mathematics, which help the girls to explore other subjects effectively and creatively.
Class teachers, supported by teaching assistants, introduce termly cross-curricular topics to make connections between subjects, thus capturing the girls’ imaginations. Much use is made of the local area, with trips and visitors playing an integral part in learning. As an all through school we have a wealth of expertise to draw upon to create an outstanding curriculum. Girls continue to enjoy the benefit of having weekly lessons with subject specialists for computing (double lesson), French, music and PE (games and gymnastics, with early athletics and tennis skills in the summer term).
- Cross-curricular links made between curriculum subjects where possible

- Specialist teaching for modern languages, music and PE lessons
- Lunchtime and after-school clubs and activities
